aftercare

second skin

  • Remove the second skin after a maximum of 5 days. (Remove immediately if irritation occurs)

  • Gently take off the second skin during or after showering. The warmth of the water makes it easier to remove.

  • Wash the tattoo with luke warm water (make sure your hands are clean) or use a hypoallergenic soap.

  • Pat the tattoo dry with paper towel or let it air dry.

  • Apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment, Vaseline, or Bepanthen.

  • Apply the ointment for about a week, 2 to 3 times a day.

  • For the next 4 to 6 weeks, avoid sun exposure, swimming, and saunas. Showering is fine, but make sure the tattoo doesn’t soak. This can interfere with the healing process.

  • Avoid touching your tattoo as much as possible. If you need to touch it (for example to apply ointment), make sure your hands are clean.

  • !!Do not scratch the tattoo if it starts to itch during healing!!

plastic foil

  • Remove the plastic wrap after 2 to 6 hours.

  • Wash the tattoo with luke warm water (make sure your hands are clean), or use a hypoallergenic soap.

  • Pat the tattoo dry with a paper towel or let it air dry.

  • Let the tattoo breathe for the rest of the day — you don’t need to rewrap it. (Unless you have plans where it might get dirty, in that case, apply a thin layer of tattoo ointment and cover it temporarily with plastic wrap.)

  • Start applying ointment the next day: 2 to 3 times a day, use a thin layer of tattoo ointment, Bepanthen, or Vaseline. Do this for 1.5 to 2 weeks.

  • For the next 4 to 6 weeks, avoid direct sunlight, swimming, and saunas. Showering is fine, but make sure the skin doesn’t soak, this can affect healing.

  • Avoid touching your tattoo as much as possible. If you need to touch it (e.g. to apply ointment), make sure your hands are clean.

  • !!Don’t scratch the tattoo if it itches during the healing process!!
